About the Bayfield Community Education Foundation
The Bayfield Community Education Foundation (BCEF) is dedicated to advancing educational opportunities by offering financial support to programs that go beyond the normal funding responsibilities or capabilities of the school district. Many programs take education out of the classroom and into the “real world” allowing the children a hands on approach to learning valuable skills through unique experiences.
The BCEF, a 501c3 nonprofit community based organization, was founded in 1996 and began awarding grants in 1998 to provide financial support beyond the normal funding capabilities of the school district. Since that time BCEF has funded over 125 grant applications and awarded over $123,000. Although the majority of applications are submitted by teachers within the school district, the opportunity to apply is offered to nonprofit organizations in the communities of the City and Town of Bayfield, the Town of Russell, the Town of LaPointe on Madeline Island, and the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa; a unique amalgamation of students.
Since its inception, the BCEF has built and endowment over $250,000 through generous donations of people just like you. Our goal in the next several years is to raise an additional $100,000 for our foundation so we can continue to provide the educational “extras” that can’t be included in the district’s budget. The BCEF invites you to become a partner in this challenge and share in our belief that the future lies with our children. Through the endowment program your financial gift can keep giving virtually forever.
