St. Thomas More High School Announces Tom Knitter AwardFebruary 2, 2022: St. Thomas More High School will present the inaugural Tom Knitter Award to a graduating student at the end of the 2021-22 school year. Named after the influential teacher, coach, and administrator, the Tom Knitter Award will recognize a senior student who emulates the retired educator’s remarkable ability to display, promote, and encourage positivity and resiliency.Knitter joined the teaching staff at Pio Nono High School, a predecessor of St. Thomas More, in 1968. A member of St. Thomas More’s Athletic (2009) and Alumni (2018) Halls of Fame, he devoted more than 40 years of his life to the school community as a teacher, coach, principal, and president. In 1994, Knitter became the first layperson to serve as the school’s president, and in 2021, he received the school’s highest honor, the Chancellor Award. |
